The company announced last week that the panel of independent judges awarded the display Best Home Cinema TV, Best Living Room TV, and Best TV of 2026. The victory marks a historic first, as no television, HD or OLED, had previously swept the competition in the event’s history.
How the competition was judged
Each television in the shootout underwent evaluation based on specific performance metrics. Judges assessed the devices’ ability to play high-fidelity movies in a dark room and handle broadcasts with weak signals in bright rooms. The S99H OLED competed against flagship models, including the LG G6 OLED and the Sony Bravia 8 II QD-OLED, but the Samsung device secured the top spots.
The panel measured settings such as HDR performance, color accuracy, and video processing. Instead of comparing the TVs against one another, the panel pitted them against the Sony BVM-HX3110.

The Sony BVM-HX3110 served as the control because it is an “industry-standard” monitor used by Hollywood colorists for their work. This setup ensures that the winning TV meets a high bar for professional color grading.
A tight competition against LEDs
The S99H OLED’s achievement is notable because the display nearly faced a different winner. For the first time, the 2026 shootout included a semi-final round that allowed one LED TV to compete against OLEDs. The winner of this round was the Sony Bravia 9 II True RGB LED TV.
Despite being an LED monitor, the Sony Bravia 9 II gave the Samsung S99H OLED the stiffest competition of the year. It surpassed the other TVs to become the second favorite display of the event, proving that the OLED panel faced strong rivals in the testing environment.
