Google is planning a launch event for its Googlebook platform, with the event said to be taking place next month. The Googlebook platform has been the subject of several leaks recently, showcasing designs of some of the hardware, but there has yet to be any official word from Google on when these devices will be confirmed.
According to past leaks, there will be Googlebooks coming from many of Google’s current Chromebook partners, including Lenovo, Acer, Dell, and even ASUS. Google has talked about the Googlebook platform briefly but it hasn’t shared everything about these laptops yet.
The Googlebook launch event is claimed to be happening on September 15, according to a report from Chrome Unboxed. The report also mentions that this will be a full showcase of these new laptops, complete with a keynote from Google leadership.
It’s also stated that there will be everything from demos to hands-on time with the laptops, though it isn’t explicitly mentioned which laptops these would be. This is stated to be a media preview event so an actual launch date is likely to be further out.
The Googlebook is Google’s way of rethinking the laptop, and it’ll include some familiar traits that people have come to know and love from one of the first Chromebooks available, the Chromebook Pixel. This is referring to the glowbar that will sit on the lid.

Google also says that Googlebooks won’t be replacing Chromebooks. Googlebooks are built on the Android stack, but Google hasn’t confirmed an official name for the OS yet.
Google has sent an invite to the upcoming Googlebook launch event. The event will likely provide more information about the Googlebook platform and its features.
The Googlebook platform will have several partners, including Lenovo, Acer, Dell, and ASUS. Google has also confirmed that Intel won’t be the only chip supplier for these machines. They were revealed during Google I/O 2026 in May.
